Spinal Decompression
Hazen Chiropractic Center offers non-surgical spinal decompression using the DRX9000 for back pain and the DRX9000C for neck pain. These advanced systems are designed to provide relief from symptoms associated with certain spinal conditions, including herniated discs, bulging or protruding discs, and degenerative disc disease. The DRX9000 may also be used for patients experiencing sciatica and facet syndrome.
Treatment uses controlled, intermittent decompressive forces to gently elongate the spine and may help reduce pressure on nerves and intervertebral discs. Sessions are designed to be comfortable and relaxing, typically lasting about 30–45 minutes.

The DRX9000 is designed to provide relief from pain and symptoms associated with conditions such as herniated discs, bulging or protruding discs, degenerative disc disease, posterior facet syndrome, and sciatica.
How the DRX9000 Works
The DRX9000 applies controlled decompressive forces along a customized treatment curve to elongate the spine while allowing the muscles surrounding the spine to remain relaxed. The system uses computerized technology to calculate and apply the treatment curve, while built-in measurement devices monitor the decompressive force throughout treatment. This closed-loop feedback process allows the system to continually monitor and adjust the treatment.
The manufacturer’s materials explain that spinal elongation may help reduce pressure on nerves and intervertebral discs. The reduction in pressure may also facilitate movement of fluid carrying nutrients and oxygen within the disc and may help draw in herniated disc material.
What to Expect During Treatment
DRX9000 treatments are designed to be comfortable and relaxing. During a typical 30–45 minute session, the patient lies on a heavily padded treatment bed and is secured with an upper and lower body harness. Patients can relax during treatment by listening to music, watching a DVD, or simply resting. Treatment generally consists of alternating phases of maximum and minimum therapeutic decompressive forces.
Some patients may experience mild muscular soreness during or after treatment, similar to the soreness that can occur when beginning a new exercise routine. Additional therapies, such as electrical stimulation or cold therapy, may be recommended to support treatment. Exercise or a lumbar support belt may also be prescribed when appropriate.
Who May Benefit from DRX9000?
The DRX9000 materials identify patients diagnosed with herniated discs, bulging discs, sciatica, degenerative disc disease, or facet syndrome as potential candidates for treatment. Whether spinal decompression is appropriate depends on each patient’s individual condition and should be determined by a healthcare provider.
The manufacturer’s treatment protocol describes 20 treatments over approximately six weeks, with treatment frequency varying during different phases of the protocol. However, the appropriate course of care is based on medical necessity as determined by the physician.
DRX9000C for Neck Pain
Hazen Chiropractic Center also offers the DRX9000C for patients experiencing neck pain. The DRX9000C is designed as a non-surgical treatment option for neck pain associated with herniated, protruding, or bulging discs and degenerative disc disease. Under physician direction, each session uses intermittent cycling distraction forces intended to relieve pressure on structures that may be contributing to neck pain.
Like the DRX9000, the DRX9000C is intended to provide a comfortable treatment experience, with sessions typically lasting about 30 minutes. Mild muscular soreness may occur during or after treatment, while many patients find the therapy comfortable and relaxing.
